Current Role

As Rehmann’s director of professional standards, Heather is the firm’s technical leader for assurance and financial reporting engagements; responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of the policies and procedures that comprise Rehmann’s system of quality management.

Heather leads the credit union niche practice and conducts financial statement, internal audit and various consulting engagements for the firm’s largest and most complex financial institution clients.

Heather serves on the firm’s accounting and financial reporting and financial services group executive committees, as well as the quality management committee.

Experience

Heather’s public accounting career began when she joined Rehmann in 2003. In addition to serving on numerous client engagements, Heather has held various leadership roles throughout her tenure with the firm. She served on the Assurance and Financial Reporting Executive Committee, as well as sub-committees such as quality control, commercial, financial services, and training among others. She was also responsible for establishing audit approach, training, and completion of technical reviews of financial statements and assurance engagements.

A Closer Look

  • Heather plans and conducts numerous trainings during the year throughout the firm and for various trade associations. Topics range from the execution of financial institution audit engagements and industry updates to the implementation of new accounting pronouncements and developments in generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Heather is a member of the AICPA Technical Issues Committee, representing the views of local firms and their clients in the standard-setting process.
  • Heather is a graduate of Leadership Saginaw, a personal and community leadership development program.
