My goal as a business advisor is to protect and preserve my clients’ wealth while minimizing their tax exposure. I’m able to provide value at all stages of the business cycle — through strategy development for a new or growing business, sharing proactive ideas to further a mature company’s success, and even succession planning when an owner is ready to exit their business.”

Current Role

As a regional director of tax, Andy works with 100 professionals in seven different offices to help ensure the firm’s clients are receiving personalized service and the appropriate support from Rehmann to be successful. He is also a member of the Rehmann manufacturing industry group, information technology committee and tax executive committee.

Andy has a large client base of closely-held, family-owned businesses, and he also serves private equity and non-family owned companies.

Service Areas

  • Tax planning, consulting and structuring
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Manufacturing companies
  • Closely-held and family-owned businesses

Experience

Andy joined Rehmann in 1997 with two years of experience as a controller. Working with businesses ranging from $1 million to $200 million in sales, a large portion of his time is spent working with clients in manufacturing, distribution, trucking and wholesale industries.

He has extensive experience providing practical business and tax planning advice to his commercial and individual clients. Bringing in professionals throughout Rehmann to assist with niche projects such as international or state and local tax issues, Andy has helped his clients navigate the complex issues of doing business in multiple states, assisted them with setting up international operations and helped implement R&D tax credit studies.

A Closer Look

  • In a particular instance, Andy and his team assisted a client from beginning to end with the sale of their business — first they valued the business, then brought in the team of financial advisors to create a budget for the individual, and were able to sell the business for far more than what was required.
  • One of Andy’s strengths is structuring deals for succession planning, buyouts, and planning for high net worth individuals by working with them on ways to mitigate tax and preserve their wealth.
  • Involved in his community, Andy is the former president of Saginaw Valley Rotary Club and former treasurer of Saginaw Township Community Schools Foundation.
