Rehmann announces January 2023 promotions

Rehmann, a fully integrated professional advisory firm, has announced it is celebrating the promotion of more than 40 employees across 13 office locations.

“The Rehmann team is comprised of motivated individuals eager to learn more and build their careers using the several professional development resources we offer,” said Stacie Kwaiser, CEO of Rehmann. “We are proud of our associates and the excellence they bring our clients.”

The promotions include:

• Ryan Wichmann – Troy – Principal: Ryan joined Rehmann in 2013. Since then, he has gained experience in tax consulting and planning; estate planning; financial statement reporting; and general business consulting for a variety of industries. Over the last seven years, Ryan has focused on dealerships and currently leads the Dealership group at Rehmann. In addition, Ryan serves as a member of the Troy office advisory board. With a strong background in advisory services, Ryan was selected as a member of the firm’s advisory and tax rapid response team for COVID-19 relief for individuals and businesses. Ryan currently serves on the board of a not-for-profit based in Clawson named Mary’s Children Family Center. He also serves on the board of a professional organization called Secured Finance Network Michigan Chapter (SFNet).
• Justin Masters – Troy – Principal: Justin joined Rehmann in 2010. His core service areas include audit, review and compilation engagements for a variety of industries including manufacturing, service, HUD low-income housing, and employee benefit plans. Justin serves as the lead member of Rehmann’s employee benefit plan assurance industry group and also sits on both the audit and assurance IT and training subcommittees. Additionally, Justin assists clients with general and in-depth accounting questions through personalized consultations.
• Robert Westrate – Jackson – Principal: Bob joined Rehmann in 1999. He has been a member of Rehmann’s quality control function since 2014, and has gained experience in the areas of independence and professional ethics, peer reviews, and other elements of quality control. Bob currently serves as a member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
• Eric Doezema – Grand Rapids – Principal: Since joining Rehmann in 2011, Eric has gained experience planning, performing, and supervising audit, review and consulting engagements for clients in a variety of industries, including commercial, manufacturing, distribution, services and construction.
• Paula Bedford – Detroit – Principal: Paula most often manages and serves as a reviewer on audit and single audit engagements, working directly with her clients to build lasting relationships. While she holds experience with several industries, she is mainly focused in the governmental and not-for-profit sectors. Paula serves as one of the leaders in our public sector industry group for assurance training and quality control.
• Matt Behnke – Ann Arbor – Principal: Capitalizing on his extensive background gained over 22 years in both the public and private sectors, Matt focuses on assurance and financial reporting services, internal control and operational design, strategic planning design and execution, intercollegiate athletic finance and high-level outsourced financial consulting.
• Dawn Hanna-Bell – Ann Arbor – Principal: Dawn joined Rehmann in January 2011 in connection with the firm’s business combination with Wright Griffin Davis and Co. where she served as the Firm Administrator for more than 25 years. In her current role as Director of Professional Support and Operations, Dawn oversees our Professional support team across 17 offices and works with all Service Lines and Departments within the firm to help maintain efficient Operations that support our Client Service Professionals.
• Chad Rick – Grand Rapids – Principal: Chad develops creative strategies that help clients work toward success, integrating retirement plan objectives with overall business goals. He works with a cross-functional Rehmann team to proactively guide each client, leveraging plan design, administration and investment resources.
• Adam Garvey – Traverse City – Principal: Adam develops creative strategies that help clients work toward meeting their financial goals, integrating asset management and retirement plan services with overall business and financial plans. He works with a cross-functional Rehmann team to proactively guide each client, considering tax law and efficiencies, estate planning, and accounting needs along the way
• Basam Malik – Lansing – Principal: Basam began his financial services career in 2010 and has supported high net worth individuals and their families, business owners, and organizations. He has extensive knowledge of retirement plan consulting, financial wellness programs and impactful participant engagement.
• Jamie Russell – Stuart – Principal: Jamie develops creative strategies that help clients work toward meeting their financial goals, integrating asset management and retirement plan services with overall business and financial plans. He works with a cross-functional Rehmann team to proactively guide each client, considering tax law and efficiencies, estate planning, and accounting needs along the way.

Rehmann also welcomed Stacie Kwaiser as the firm’s new CEO, while Stephen Blann assumed her previous role as COO. Additionally, the firm celebrated several 2022 milestones, including two business combinations that expanded its reach into the greater Grand Rapids and Orlando markets.
