Current Role

As Rehmann’s director of international tax, Michael is dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities involved with conducting business globally. He focuses on building a well-rounded team with broad experience and expanding Rehmann’s international client base to include various jurisdictional regions and types of work.  

Michael works with inbound and outbound companies helping them with traditional tax and international transactions. Rehmann is an independent member firm of HLB, a global affiliation of advisory and accounting firms, and Michael is actively involved.

Experience

Bringing more than 25 years of international tax experience to the table, Michael has a successful track record of providing value-driven consulting, planning and structuring for clients in a wide range of industries including life-sciences, wireless distribution, chemical manufacturing and distribution, general manufacturing, software development, not-for-profit and higher education. He is well-practiced in repatriation planning and transfer pricing. 

Michael began practicing in 1987. Prior to joining Rehmann in 2017, Michael was a managing director of the tax practice for the Indiana region of a global accounting firm, after serving as a corporate vice president of tax logistics. With experience in both private industry and public accounting, he views situations from the client’s perspective. Michael is a licensed CPA in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

  • To help clients stay ahead of the curve on tax reform, Michael recently authored an article titled “Gearing up for the future: 6 ways to bolster your tax-planning toolkit.” 
  • To continue expanding his knowledge, Michael attends conferences that address topics such as tax reform, transfer pricing and more.
