Current Role

Avi conducts forensic reviews and audits of financial records related to investigations of fraud, embezzlement and other matters. His work results in documentation and reports suitable for litigation and he can provide expert testimony in support of his findings. Avi’s client base ranges from corporate entities to government agencies, and he works closely with attorneys.

His case preparation includes contacting law enforcement, bank officials and corporate representatives to gather documents and assess processes. His work can include internal controls analyses and providing recommendations to clients to improve internal processes.

Experience

Avi began his accounting career in 2006 and has focused primarily on forensic accounting. He most recently worked with the Arizona Corporation Commission – Securities Division Enforcement Section as chief accountant of enforcement. He has also worked with the Arizona Department of Economic Security and forensic accounting firms specializing in the quantification of lost business income and extra expense insurance claims. He joined Rehmann in 2021.

Avi is licensed as a CPA in both Michigan and Arizona. He is also licensed as a Public Investigator in Florida.

• Avi has significant experience preparing exhibits and use of funds reports for litigation purposes and providing testimony in cases of alleged securities fraud where millions of dollars have been lost.
• As a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Avi is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and meets the annual continuing professional education requirements to stay current in the forensic accounting profession.
• Avi earned the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designation through the AICPA, for CPAs who specialize in forensic accounting, granted exclusively to CPAs who demonstrate considerable expertise through their knowledge, skills and experience.
